If I Could - a poem

If I could hold you in my arms-until the pain went away
I’d stay with you an entire day
I’d wipe away your tears of sorrow
And then I’d be there for you again tomorrow

I’ve been in the place that your mind dwells
The time itself seems like a living hell
One day it will be a memory
But until it is-rely on me

When crying ; there’s no need to feel any shame
On the inside, we are all the same
When you think you cannot cope all alone
I’m as close as your telephone

If I could hold you in my arms –until you’re fast asleep
I know that’s a promise I would keep
I’d wipe away your tears of pain
And I’d do all this ,over and over again .
